These treaties, in particular the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, and the 1988 Convention against the Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, continue to define the international drug control system. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the guardian of these treaties and the United Nations lead agency on drug control.
